The Ministry of Education and Research has recently tasked Bertil Lindahl with producing source material for a renegotiation of the national ALF agreement (ref. no U2022/02845). The ALF is a national agreement entered into between the government and certain regions on collaboration on medical education, clinical research and healthcare development.

Threats or violence in the workplace is never acceptable. Hatred, threats and harassment against researchers, but also against other occupational groups, is unfortunately not a new phenomenon but has lately also increased, especially among employees working with research related to COVID-19. The Animal Rights Alliance (Djurrättsalliansen) is currently running a campaign to “retire” five monkeys used for research at KI. The campaign includes appeals on social media and distribution of leaflets on the Solna campus. KI uses monkeys for medical research, such as that conducted for vaccine development, when no other options are available.

On 29 May, the government announced that as of 15 June, higher education institutions may return to campus-based teaching.
