On Valborg April 30, the reception in Aula Medica closes at 3:00 PM. On May 1 and 2, it is closed due to "red day" and a bridging day at KI.

Earlier this month, the Swedish Research Council published a report on the quality and impact of medical research in Sweden. The fact that Karolinska Institutet emerges in a very positive light fills me with pride – our research is of a very high scientific standard and has given rise to groundbreaking discoveries of major societal importance.

Ola Larsson has been appointed as Head of the Department of Oncology-Pathology (OnkPat), starting July 1, 2025. The appointment is for five years, and the decision was signed by Dean Carl Johan Sundberg on April 10, 2025. Ola Larsson, who previously served as vice Head at OnkPat, will take over the role from Lars Holmgren.

During the spring, KI RIMS and the bibliometric system were updated with new subject headings and classes from the Standard for Swedish Classification of Research Fields, SSIF2025. MeSH from NLM has also been updated for 2025. Existing terms for persons, groups and publications have been updated centrally in KI RIMS and the bibliometric system. You can modify or add more/new terms to increase your visibility, so please check the keywords on your profile page and research group in KI RIMS.

The course catalogue for the autumn semester of 2025 is now open for application! Please note that the application period is three weeks, with the final application day being 6 May.

At the moment, the library has a trial on the database Overton! In Overton, you can find, among other things, policy documents, government guidelines, and reports from non-governmental organisations. The database can be used to search for grey literature. It can also be used to identify and measure the impact of research on policy issues, as references are extracted from the documents.

To enable Eatery's establishment, Akademiska Hus is investing approximately SEK 50 million in a renovation. The work should be completed by spring 2026 when Eatery opens the doors to the new restaurant.

One of the national services offered by NBIS/SciLifeLab is the Bioinformatics Peer review Support track (a.k.a. Region Stockholm and Karolinska Institutet (KI) have the common goal of improving dental care in the Stockholm County through research and development. The steering group KI/Region Stockholm for dental research (SOF) announces funding for clinical dental research.

This call aims to facilitate new and existing contacts as well as increase research collaboration with the University of Edinburgh, University College London (UCL), Imperial College London and King’s College London.

The strategic partnership agreement, signed between Karolinska Institutet and University of Tokyo aims to increase mobility, joint research projects and faculty development. KI has awarded this year's Sustainability Prize to Ester Gubi, a doctor and sociologist, and Ann Liljas, associate professor in global public health and assistant lecturer, both at the Department of Global Public Health at KI. They receive the prize for their outstanding contributions to sustainable development. The prize was awarded for the third time and in connection with KI's Sustainability Day on 2 April.

For two weeks in April, the water will be turned off in ANA Futura (coffee nodes, kitchen, toilets, labs). The shutdown means that it will not be possible to flush either taps or toilets. Emergency showers will also not work.

Anna Schandl is a registered nurse and has worked in intensive care in the Stockholm Region for many years. She is an associate professor in nursing and research group leader in the research group for Perioperative Care and Intensive Care at Södersjukhuset. Anna works with data collected from regional and national cohort studies, but also with qualitative research; something she uses as an advisor within Clinicum's network.

The Infrastructure Board has adopted its strategy for the development of KI's research infrastructure. The aim of the strategy is to ensure that KI's researchers have access to the most advanced and relevant research infrastructure, which is crucial for conducting research of the highest quality.

A number of new classes are now available at KI's Health Hub, both in Solna and Flemingsberg. The classes are open to both staff and students.
