KI–SDU Joint Symposium 2025

The Karolinska Institutet (KI) and Shandong University (SDU) held their Joint Symposium in Jinan, China, on November 17–18, 2025, on the theme of cross-disciplinary medical research.
The two-day event was opened by SDU Vice President Prof. Fan Yi and KI Vice President Prof. Martin Bergö, and had witnessed the renewal of the Agreement of KI-SDU Translational Medicine Collaborative Research Platform. The symposium had three half-day scientific sessions and one half-day site visits. The translational medical research session brought cutting-edge sciences in reproductive disorders, machine learning in cancer research, and bioinformatics. The medical material science session highlighted the innovations in nanomaterials, tissue regeneration, and neuroimaging. The inflammation research session explored T cell immunity, periodontal disease mechanisms, and antibiotic stewardship in dental medicine. The symposium concluded with laboratory visits and in-depth networking to strengthen collaborative ties.
The joint symposium underscores the commitment of KI and SDU on our longterm partnership and to lift our medical research and educational collaboration to a new level.
