Canvas Studio will now be used for all educational videos in Canvas
The My Media and Media Gallery features in Canvas, which use Kaltura to store video and audio in your Canvas courses, will be discontinued. Starting 8 December, it will no longer be possible to upload new videos to My Media and Media Gallery. You will still be able to view your videos via My Media and Media Gallery in your Canvas course. To continue working with educational videos and audio files in Canvas, please use Canvas Studio going forward.
Canvas Studio is now the new platform for course-related video and audio material in Canvas. It replaces Kaltura (KI Play) for uploading and managing teaching videos in Canvas.
What does this mean?
- New videos should be uploaded directly to Canvas Studio.
- Material previously stored in My Media or Media Gallery in Canvas will be migrated to Studio.
- Videos published locally in Canvas courses are not affected by this transition.
