Register reimbursement for medical expenses and medicines – before 31 January

As employee at KI you are entitled to compensation for certain healthcare costs and medicines covered by the pharmaceutical benefits and are included in the high-cost protection scheme. Applications for reimbursement can be made once a year and must be registered before 31 January, 2026.

To receive reimbursement for medical treatment and prescription medicines, you need to register your expenses in the PA web under the menu Medical expenses. The reimbursement is taxable and will be paid as soon as possible with your regular salary payment.

Required documentation to attach:

  • Receipt from the healthcare provider (not older than two years) for medical treatments.
  • Summary from the Swedish eHealth Agency (E-hälsomyndigheten) for medicines
  • If you paid by invoice, include a bank statement

For medicines

  1. Collect your costs for prescription medicines included in the high-cost protection scheme.
  2. Log in to Läkemedelskollen at the Swedish eHealth Agency using BankID.
  3. Select Prescriptions and high-cost protection, open the document and save it as a PDF.
  4. Register the case in PA web under My page → Medical expenses and attach the PDF file.

For medical treatments

  1. Check that the receipt shows the fee is included in the high-cost protection scheme.
  2. Register the case in PA web under My page → Medical expenses.
  3. Attach a receipt containing the following details: First and last name, social security number, date, amount, and type of visit.
  4. A bank statement is required if payment has been made by invoice

Reimbursement levels

  • Medical treatment: maximum SEK 95 per visit
  • Physiotherapy: maximum SEK 55 per treatment
  • Psychological treatment: maximum SEK 95 per treatment
  • Oral surgical treatment: maximum SEK 95 per treatment occasion
  • Hospital care: maximum SEK 70 per day

Reimbursement is provided only for the visits listed above (region-affiliated doctor, physiotherapist, psychologist, oral surgery, and hospital care) Alternative treatments such as chiropractor or naprapath are not reimbursed. Nor is reimbursement provided for nurse visits, ambulance care, X-ray, mammography, or audiologist visits.
