Modern research often uses high-tech methods and tools that require particular expertise. Despite this, there has been no career paths in Sweden for individuals interested in the technical and methodological development needed to operate and develop the research infrastructures of the future. Starting April 1, 2023, such a career path will be available at KI, possibly the first of its kind in the country.

KI is launching a new podcast: The PAPERs podcast. Every week you will drop into the conversation between four hosts who discuss articles addressing health professions education. While the content is rigorous, the hosts offer accessible insights with lighthearted style, making this podcast regular listening for many scholars’.

This autumn the course “Leadership coure for research group leaders and teams leaders” starts. The aim of the course is to enhance participants’ knowledge about academic leadership and how to build conditions for dynamic research group development. Register 15th April at the latest.

As a part of the Stockholm Trio alliance, teachers and staff involved in education at KI are welcome to participate in KTH's conference in teaching and learning on March 7.

To further strengthen our teaching, we are now announcing up to three MBB Frontier Teaching Awards, which are aimed at identifying, recruiting, and supporting dedicated personnel at MBB who have a special interest and skill in engaging in the further development of our teaching. The course "Teaching in the glocal university" is an introduction to teaching and learning at an international university. It is still possible to apply to the courses given during the Spring term.

Staffan Holmin at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, is awarded the Prize for Innovation and Utilization, 2022.
The prize recognizes one or more researchers/research students who have distinguished themselves through outstanding utilization of research results that have led to innovation.

The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, SSF, has appointed the eight generation of "Future research leader", three researchers from Karolinska Institutet. The researchers receive 15 million SEK each during a five year period and will join a leadership training program.

We are looking for students to work at the welcome ceremony for new students starting fall semester of 2022. The ceremony is on August 25 in Aula Medica. And yes, since the ceremony is in August you will have to be a student at KI also next semester. There are two different types of jobs available, read more about them below.

This year's call includes positions as Assistant Professor, Senior Research specialist / Principal Researcher (for already employed Assistant Professors with the earlier Swedish title forskarassistent) and Consolidator grants.

Are you a doctoral student and want help finding a mentor, or are you interested in becoming a mentor to a doctoral student?

As in previous years, several of Stockholm’s higher education institutions are participating under the joint Academic Pride banner to draw attention to LGBTQI-related issues. Academic Pride 2021 arranges a seminar on breaking binary gender norms with language as well as social events for students. The Pride flag will be hoisted at all participating schools throughout the festival program, including KI’s campuses in Flemingsberg and Solna.

Since 2011 universities and institutions of higher education in Sweden have had greater freedom to decide themselves on the appointment of a professor. Karolinska Institutet has chosen to expose professorships to competition and has abolished the right to be promoted.
