KI researcher Daniel Helldén on Forbes 30 under 30 list

Daniel Helldén, researcher at the Department of Global Public Health at Karolinska Institutet, is on the Forbes' 30 under 30 Europe 2025 list in the Science & Healthcare category.
The Forbes 30 Under 30 list recognises the top 30 people under 30 in Europe who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. Forbes selects candidates based on factors such as funding, revenue, social impact, scale, ingenuity and potential.
Daniel Helldén, researcher at the Department of Global Health, KI, is the only Swede in the research and health category, where his contribution to global public health is highlighted. Helldén's research focuses on using advanced modelling and machine learning to study how social factors improve child health. He led a major review on climate change's effects on child health, which is highly cited.
“It's exciting and an honour to be included on the list. Forbes usually doesn't highlight research, which makes this recognition feel even more special. It signifies that research in climate and child health is an area of great interest to many and will hopefully lead to new collaborations between researchers and other stakeholders,” says Daniel Helldén.
In addition to Daniel Helldén, the list also includes the KI-affiliated researcher Laura Covill, who has a background at Karolinska Institutet. She defended her PhD at KI in November 2024.
