Fortunately, it was all just an exercise. The exercise, which is part of the TKS course, now aims to be developed into a national course concept.

As part of the Swedish presidency of the EU's Council of Ministers, the health ministers of EU countries were invited to an informal meeting in Stockholm on the 4th and 5th of May. The meting concerned issues of preparedness and securing access to innovative and established medicines.

Region Stockholm has been given a high-quality rating by the Swedish Research Council (VR) in its evaluation of the quality of clinical research and how it is transformed into patient and societal benefit. The evaluation is important in many respects, including to the distribution of government ALF (Agreement on Clinical Research and Training) funds.

The students' association IFMSA runs the Vår hälsa brinner (Our health is on fire) campaign to raise awareness and educate about the health impacts of climate change. Students see a need to work concretely on the issue, not least during their medical training. They have made an alphabet series illustrating the impact of climate change on public health and hold educational workshops. During Politician's Week in Almedalen, they held a workshop and distributed posters with the alphabet.

The coronavirus pandemic highlighted the increased need for knowledge and skills within the field of geriatric care. KI is offering a specialist nursing programme with a focus on care for the elderly.

MedTechLabs is now open – the research centre formed by a close collaboration between Karolinska Institutet (KI), the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and Stockholm County Council (SLL). The objective of the centre’s first project is to develop technology to improve diagnosis and treatment of patients who have, for example, suffered a stroke.

Mia von Knorring was appointed the award: this year’s leadership facilitator by the Healthcare Leadership Academy the 21st of October 2014. The award is given to a person who has made significant efforts to promote good leadership in healthcare.
