On 20 January, Forskarwebben was shut down and replaced by VIS, the new system for financial project overviews, which automatically retrieves and compiles data from different source systems, saving time and simplifying report generation. We spoke to Hannes Asplund, finance manager at GPH about what it means for you as a researcher and the support available in the new system VIS.

In 2024, the KI internal environmental audit involved visits to all institutions to identify and assess positive and negative environmental impacts of KI’s activities on the environment. Marie Hasselberg, Therese Lind and GPH environment and sustainability representative Ann Liljas met with the external audit lead and KI’s environmental coordinators to present and discuss the work on environment and sustainability at GPH.

A research internship enables doctors on an internship to combine their regular clinical internship (in Swedish Allmäntjänstgöring - AT) with up to 12 months of research at KI. Apart from being eligible for an internship, candidates must also at the time of the application, hold a medical degree and either as a registered doctoral student at KI or a PhD engaged in research at KI.

On 29 January, KI's Professional Services gathered for a first staff meeting in the new organisation. All offices were introduced and researcher Ylva Trolle Lagerros described how Professional Services and research are linked at KI. Below is a summary of the information shared at the meeting.

Cecilia Lundholm is the coordinator of Clinicum's advisory network, the network of methodology experts who help researchers with methodological issues. Cecilia is also an advisor in the network, in biostatistics and epidemiology with a special focus on reproductive epidemiology and pediatric epidemiology. In addition, she is the head of the department's applied biostatistics group.

In Q2 2025, KI's central Active Directory (AD/directory service) will be updated to the latest version. Before this update, local system owners or department technicians must check the systems connected to KI's central AD.

Between October 3-4, 2024, five separate evacuation drills were carried out at Biomedicum. The drills were documented by Facility Management Biomedicum in order to analyze the organization's status, shortcomings, and needs.

What I most look forward to now, in the early days of the spring term, is the receding darkness and getting to meet all of you under various circumstances. Only last week, for instance, I and my colleagues in the university management had the privilege of meeting around fifty of our colleagues on Campus Flemingsberg in an open dialogue meeting, just like the one we held on the Solna campus just before Christmas.

Thursday January 30th between 08:00 - 10:00 Akademiska Hus will disable a fire control system in the building, which will only affect the fire doors. This means that fire doors that are currently open (e.g., in stairwells) will be closed and cannot be propped open. Akademiska Hus cannot confirm if the entire building will be affected, but it is likely that only the D-building will be impacted.
