Biosketch, your new short CV in KI RIMS

With the new KI RIMS report Biosketch, KI researchers can quickly produce a summary with a photo and short biography based on their profile page. The need for a uniform and easily accessible short CV has been highlighted by the International Relations Office, which often shares researcher profiles in connection with international visits and collaborations. The hope is that the biosketch report will simplify the work of both researchers and international coordinators.

Why a biosketch?

The need for a uniform and easily accessible short CV has been highlighted by the International Relations Office, which often shares researcher profiles in connection with international delegations and collaborations. The Biosketch report now makes it possible to quickly produce a stylish summary with a photo and short biography for KI researchers.

– In spring 2024, members of the RIMS project invited dialogue on development opportunities within KI RIMS. From the International Relations Office, we highlighted the need to be able to generate a short CV (biosketch) based on the information already available in the system. When receiving international delegations to KI, as well as during delegation trips, there is often a need to share CV information about researchers at KI. Being able to easily extract a biosketch in a uniform format directly from KI RIMS will greatly simplify this work, says Anna Dahlerus and her colleagues at the International Relations Office.

Since August, employees at the International Relations Office have had access to the biosketch report for researchers at the department groups Nord, Syd and Solna. All researchers can also extract their own biosketch using the KI RIMS report function. The biosketch report is currently only available in English.

The hope is that the report will facilitate the work of both individual researchers and international coordinators.

What's in it for me, as a researcher at KI?

The biosketch is based on selected profile information from your public profile page.

When the information displayed on your profile page can be reused in the biosketch report it hopefully means that you can spend less time managing information about yourself and your research. If you are a researcher with an updated profile page, you also have an updated biosketch that you can export to Word or PDF at any time.

What do I need to do to make my biosketch as good as possible?

Add a photo of yourself and make sure you have filled in the fields for Overview, Research interests and Teaching summary under Edit my profile in KI RIMS. Tips on how to write about yourself, your research and teaching can be found on the Manage your profile information in KI RIMS page.

If you have degrees or leadership merits that you want to highlight, you can also add them to KI RIMS. You can read more about exactly what is included in the bio sketch on the page about reports in KI RIMS under the heading Individual-level reports.
