The Unit for Teaching and Learning (TL) has been commissioned to lead the project to develop an educational plan for KI. Carl Savage and Teresa Sörö are part of the project team that is currently formulating a joint starting point on learning at KI.

MTC awards 2020, is presented to the following recipients from the Head of Department Susanne Nylén.

Rodrigo Fernandez Gonzalo at the Division of Clinical Physiology has received an exciting funding of 4,5 MSEK from the Swedish National Space Agency for his project investigating the mechanisms behind the changes in the skeletal muscle and the immune system induced by the lack of gravity.

Eleni Aklillu is Professor in Tropical Pharmacology and research group leader at Department of Laboratory Medicine and has been awarded the prestigious RSTMH Donald Mackay Medal.

During the autumn and spring term, the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics participates in a project on the department management's communication channels and internal communication at the department. The aim is to gain a better understanding of how communication works today and how it can be developed in the future.

KI is now taking the next step and establishing a new team – KI’s interdisciplinary resource team post COVID-19 (KIRP) – to handle future challenges and to help improve and strengthen preparedness for future crises, such as new pandemics. 

Karolinska Institutet's information management strategy was developed in Spring 2019 and is part of Strategy 2030. The aim is to create concrete, common and established ways forward for the management of information and data at Karolinska Institutet.

On 1 December the Department of Public Health Sciences will change name to the Department of Global Public Health to clarify the department’s work with global issues.

The fall nomination period is now open - all KI employees and students are welcome to nominate representatives to the Faculty Board and Faculty Council between 18 September and 2 October.

Gioele La Manno is awarded The Dimitris N. Chorafas Prize 2019. The Prize (USD 5.000) is meant to reward pre-graduate scientific contributions within the doctoral education. The candidate should not have reached the age of 32 years at the time he/she is nominated to the prize.

INFRAFRONTIER is the European Research Infrastructure for phenotyping and archiving of model mammalian genomes. The INFRAFRONTIER Research Infrastructure provides access to first-class tools and data for biomedical research, and thereby contributes to improving the understanding of gene function in human health and disease using the mouse model.
