New access cards and new authorisation system in 2026

This spring, KI will begin replacing access cards (KI cards) and implementing a new system for managing access to premises – for a safer campus for both staff and students. The Professional Services (GVS) will be the first to replace cards, followed by the departments.
The new authorisation system
- In the new system (Serix), authorisation to premises is granted based on job role, department and unit. Student access cards will also be managed in the system.
- Via a self-service portal, employees and students will be able to upload their own photo to their access card, choose a PIN code, report lost cards, and request extended access. The current photo stations will be removed.
- In the system, the role of approver will be able to approve or deny access requests (belonging to their own organisation's premises) and the role of administrator will be able to grant access.
The cards can be collected in Solna or Flemingsberg. If you are unable to provide your own photo, you will be able to have your photo taken in Solna.
Implementation of the new system will begin in the spring

The access cards will be replaced in stages, starting in spring 2026. First out is the Professional Services (GVS), followed by the departments one at a time.
As the departments operate differently and have different needs, the implementation will be planned together with each department/unit. You will receive more information from your department or institution as the date approaches.
New access cards for students
New students will receive new access cards gradually, starting once all employees have had their cards replaced. For students, the allocation will be linked to the course they have been admitted to.
