Who do you want to see as faculty members on the Faculty Board and committees?

Nominations are now open for positions as faculty members on the Faculty Board and committees for Higher Education; Doctoral Education; and Research. By nominating a colleague or teacher, you contribute to strong, representative and committed academic leadership for KI's education and research.
Faculty members are teachers and researchers with doctoral degrees who, together with students and management, take responsibility for KI's development as a leading medical university. The role involves contributing expertise, judgement and a holistic perspective on issues relating to education and research. In this way, faculty members are a central part of KI's collegial governance.
Between 16 February and 8 March, all employees and students at KI can nominate candidates for positions as faculty members in the following collegial bodies:
- Faculty Board (FN) – four faculty members to be appointed
- Committee for Higher Education (KU) – six faculty members to be appointed
- Committee for Doctoral Education (KFU) – six faculty members to be appointed
- Committee for Research (KF) – six faculty members to be appointed
The term of office is 1 July 2026 – 31 December 2029. Remuneration for the assignments is paid in the form of a standard departmental allowance.
Elections are held electronically within the Nomination Assembly. The election results may be adjusted based on principles of gender equality.

As a faculty member on the Faculty Board or one of the committees, you are involved in and take responsibility for KI's activities and development. Being a faculty member is an important and responsible task that requires an understanding of KI, its organisation and its activities. The task places high demands on the ability to see the big picture – what is best for KI – and to delve deeply into specific issues. Similarly, the task provides increased knowledge and overview, with the opportunity to expand your network of contacts within and outside KI.
The Faculty Board has overall responsibility for the strategic and long-term development of education and research at the university. The main task of the committees is to develop and strengthen higher education, doctoral education and research at KI.
The Faculty Board is led by a chair (appointed by the President) and the committees are led by the Dean of the relevant area together with the deputy dean. All bodies include faculty members and student representatives.
The Dean, deputy dean and faculty members are appointed for the period 1 July 2026 to 31 December 2028.
Scope and remuneration
The scope of the assignment is estimated to correspond to approximately 10–15% of a full-time position. Faculty members receive remuneration (departmental compensation) for assignments as faculty members in accordance with the Guidelines for remuneration for special assignments at KI (in Swedish).
About the assignment
Meetings of the Faculty Board and committees take place approximately once a month during the semester. In addition to meetings, there are separate strategy days and/or residential meetings.
Documentation for all meetings is sent out one week in advance for review. Presentations are generally short, as members are expected to have read the documentation sent out.
