Help to decide KI’s future – nominate candidates for the position of dean
The academic election process for 2026 has now begun. If you work or study at KI, you will be able to nominate candidates for the positions of dean and deputy dean (corresponding to the former academic vice president) between 17 November and 7 December. In nominating someone in whom you believe and trust, you help to strengthen KI and give a colleague an opportunity to drive the development of education and research at KI.
In 2026, KI will be taking important steps to strengthen collegial influence at the university and its internal organisation. Having qualified representatives on the university’s governing bodies is necessary for ensuring strong influence and effective management at KI. All KI staff and students are welcome to nominate candidates for the positions of dean and deputy dean. Together, we will be creating conditions for stronger collegial influence and more effective management.
What does the position of dean entail?
As of 2026, the new title of Dean will replace that of Academic Vice President. The dean is the chair of one of the three committees that serve under KI’s Faculty Board: the Committee for Higher Education (KU), the Committee for Doctoral Education (KFU) and the Committee for Research (KF).
The position of dean entails developing and strengthening KI in each of these fields by:
- leading a committee as chairperson and sitting on the Faculty Board
- pursuing issues and taking initiatives in the committee’s field of concern
- actively promoting cooperation between the committee and the Faculty Board
- assisting the president and representing KI internally and externally within the committee’s field of concern
Term of office: 1 July 2026 – 31 December 2029. Remuneration for the position is a flat-rate sum.
The elections take place digitally and are advisory. The final decision is taken by the president.
How to submit your nominations
The nomination period is between 17 November and 7 December. Please send your nominations to registrator@ki.se, stating the reference number for each position in the subject line. Remember that you should ask your nominees for their consent beforehand.
The reference numbers for nominations to the positions of dean and deputy dean of the three committees are:
- Higher Education: 1-1125/2025
- Doctoral Education: 1-1126/2025
- Research: 1-1127/2025
