New group for strategic competence provision
The group will be deciding on the establishment of senior lectureships and professorships and identifying both short and long-term competence shortages in order to secure and strengthen KI’s core activities and create long-term stability in education and research.
- a university-wide competence provision strategy
- departmental competence provision plans
- needs as identified by the three committees
- data on KI’s personnel structure
"KI needs to ensure a stable and long-term sustainable competence provision, which is essential from several perspectives. The work and mission of this group is in demand and will fulfil an important need", says KI President Annika Östman Wernerson.
The group’s remit will broaden over time
The group will comprise the deans, the chairs of the three committees, the chair of the Recruitment Committee, the head of the HR Office (Professional Services) and a student representative.
The departmental groups will be represented by the deans while the committee chairs will represent the faculty in each area. The chair of the Recruitment Committee will contribute competence and a connection to the recruitment process for teaching staff, and the head of HR will bring overall responsibility for skills supply at KI.
The group’s broad-based composition will provide a full picture of KI’s total short and long-term competence needs, which will facilitate the strategic recruitment work. The group will also receive administrative support from the Academic Appointments Unit (HR Office).
The group will start operating during the first quarter of 2025. Its remit will broaden over time, but will commence with the requirement specifications regarding the source material needed for the taking of strategic decisions.
Starting with a review of qualification requirements
The qualification requirements (the “bars”) for teaching posts at KI are also now under review, which is another important aspect of focus area C. The review process will be done in stages, with broad involvement and anchorage within the university, starting with a questionnaire that will be sent out at the end of December to identify any requirements-related issues.
Focus area C
The purpose of priority focus area C: “Strategic and needs-driven skills supply” is to improve KI’s strategic competence provision by creating a robust, systematic model for the recruitment of personnel. Achieving KI's vision through prioritised focus areas
The decision to set up the group for strategic competence provision was made by the President on 10 December and marks an important step in focus area C: “Strategic and needs-driven skills supply”. This has been done so that strategic decisions can be made concerning the appointment of lecturers and professors at KI.
The process will eventually be based on:
