The first staff meeting for Professional Services (GVS), which now includes the KIB University Library, took place in Aula Medica. The agenda included current issues at KI, a status report from the GVS management team and an in-depth look at the Karolinska ATMP Centre with its director, Knut Steffensen.

Several decisions are now coming into force that aim to create clearer responsibilities and a more cohesive organisation at KI. Among the changes are new bodies and functions, and certain activities being relocated within KI. KI's organisational plan and the President's decision-making and delegation rules have been revised. Further revisions will also be made in 2026.

KI is now looking for a Director for research infrastructure. This is a new role that will be central to the development of Research Infrastructure at KI (RIKI), which will, among other things, meet the university's growing need for coordinated, quality-assured and secure core facilities. During the recruitment period, an acting director will be responsible for the work.

KI is strengthening the conditions for groundbreaking research and innovation by gathering and developing the research infrastructure in "Research Infrastructure KI" (RIKI). The aim is to create even better support for researchers, facilitate collaboration and ensure that KI meets future demands for development, security and competence.

Work is currently underway to develop KI's operational planning in order to facilitate dialogue and follow-up at various levels within the organisation. With the President's decision on guidelines for 2026, this planning is being initiated in various parts of KI's operations.

KI continues its work towards more coordinated and effective operational support. A project involving representatives from both departments and the Professional Services (GVS) is now reviewing support functions, working methods and coordination in order to better meet the demands of core activities and the surrounding world.

During a webinar on 17 September, the university management presented the principles of the proposed new model and answered questions.

We are now making an important change in how we allocate our government research funding. The new model aims to strengthen the university's future and ensure that resources are used where they are most beneficial.

The agenda included current issues at KI, a status report from the GVS management team, and an in-depth look at part of KI's core activities with Anna Pettersson – teacher, researcher, and recipient of KI's 2025 Pedagogical Prize.

The meeting focused on efforts for communication support, a new project office, and a project for managing research data. There was also time for questions and answers about the project to modernise working methods and the workplace.

The Communications and Public Relations Office has appointed one communicator per office within the Professional Services. The communicators will help coordinate and strengthen PS’ communication, both within and between offices. By extension, this is a step towards improving internal communication and dialogue throughout KI.

On March 25, KI's Professional Services (PS) gathered for a digital staff meeting. The agenda included news within PS, security issues, the Microsoft 365 license, the government's research bill for the next four years and KI's prioritised focus areas.

On 1 January 2025, a new organisation of KI’s Professional Services (PS) will come into force. Six existing offices will cease to exist and three new ones will be established. At the same time, working methods for increased coordination of cross-cutting issues within the professional services will be developed.
