Title

"Novel platforms for decentralized molecular diagnostics"

Speaker

Anna Toldrà Filella, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology, Karolinska Institutet

Anna was recently awarded a FORMAS starting grant, and in her talk she will highlight novel, low-cost platforms that deliver decentralized molecular diagnostics by integrating isothermal amplification, electrochemical biosensing, and lateral flow formats. The presentation highlights key applications of these technologies in both environmental analysis and clinical diagnostics. This includes the rapid and specific detection of respiratory pathogens, fast genotyping for Tuberculosis drug resistance, and high-sensitivity HPV screening in resource-limited settings. Ultimately, these platforms empower faster clinical decisions and transform global disease surveillance.
