Prof. Alon Chen is the 11th President of the Weizmann Institute of Science and a leading expert in the field of stress neurobiology. His work focuses on elucidating how stressors are perceived, processed, and translated into neuroendocrine and behavioural responses under both healthy and pathological conditions. His research has led to major advances in the field, uncovering fundamental aspects of stress regulation and identifying how stress‑related genes, epigenetic mechanisms, and neural circuits contribute to disorders such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and metabolic syndrome.
