Welcome to a guest lecture on Tuesday 19 May 2026 as part of the PhD course in Stress Neurobiology 2026 (CF6086). Dr. Korosi will explore how early-life stress shapes the risk for Alzheimer’s disease, with a particular focus on neuroinflammatory processes and metabolic pathways. The lecture will also address emerging evidence for nutritional interventions as potential strategies to mitigate the lasting effects of early-life adversity and reduce the risk of neurodegenerative disorders.
"Early-life stress and the risk for Alzheimer's disease: focus on neuroinflammation and nutritional interventions"

Dr. Aniko Korosi
University of Amsterdam, The NetherlandsDr. Aniko Korosi is a leading expert in the field of neurobiology of early-life stress and nutritional neuroscience. Her research focuses on understanding how early-life experiences like stress, nutrition, and immune challenges shape brain development and long-term cognitive and emotional outcomes. Her research integrates molecular, cellular, and systems-level approaches in preclinical models and translational human research, providing key insights into how early environmental factors program hippocampal plasticity, neurogenesis, and vulnerability to psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders, including depression and Alzheimer’s disease. A central theme of her work is the interplay between stress hormones, metabolism, and neuroinflammation, as well as the potential for nutritional interventions to prevent or reverse the detrimental effects of early-life adversity.
