New EU directive on increased pay transparency
On 7 June 2026, the EU Pay Transparency Directive will take effect for public employers. For you as an employee at KI, this means more transparency in salaries and salary setting.
The purpose of the EU Pay Transparency Directive is to reduce and, in the long term, eliminate unjustified salary gaps between women and men. The directive aims to make salaries more transparent and give job seekers and employees greater insight into how salaries are determined.
The EU Pay Transparency Directive will take effect for public employers, even though Sweden has not yet enacted legislation regarding it. In short, this means that as an employee, you have the right to receive information about your salary level and the average salary levels at KI. This information can be given by your local HR.
KI works annually to identify and reduce unjustified salary gaps between women and men through a salary transparency audit. The work on the directive is also part of KI's efforts to counteract and prevent discrimination in accordance with the Discrimination Act's requirement for affirmative action.
