Local guidelines for responsible internationalisation approved by the President
At the end of May, KI’s President approved local guidelines for responsible internationalisation.
The local guidelines, adopted by the President, have been developed following consultation within KI’s committees and the professional services. They complement the national guidelines presented by the Swedish Research Council in March. The local guidelines are intended to provide additional guidance to KI staff in connection with international activities.
Risk assessment and support
The guidelines highlight risk assessment as a central tool and make visible the internal support available where there is uncertainty as to whether an international activity can be carried out.
The guidelines should be consulted in cases of uncertainty relating to an international activity, whether it concerns the initiation of a research collaboration, participation in a conference or a recruitment.
KI’s risk assessment tool can usefully be applied to reflect on potential risks associated with the activity and to identify any need for support.
Further information will be published during the autumn on the webpage where KI has gathere resources for responsible internationalisation, with the aim of clarifying contact points for support in relation to a decision whether the activity can be carried out.
A response to a changing global context
The guidelines are intended as a tool for navigating a period characterised by increasing geopolitical tensions, heightened security requirements, and conflict. These developments affect international collaborations, which need to continue in a way that balances openness with risk awareness.
