Hi new student – here’s how Ebbali’s first weeks at KI have been

Intense, educational and fun – that’s how Ebbali Ekehammar describes her early days at KI. Photo: Emma Karlsson.

After almost two months on the medical programme, Ebbali Ekehammar sums up her start at KI as intense, rewarding and, above all, really fun. Here she shares what has surprised her, what has been most challenging, and how she manages it.

"I’ve found it really fun! KI is a great place to study, and everyone – both students and teachers – is highly motivated. But it has definitely been challenging as well. Time has gone quickly and we’ve already learnt a lot", says Ebbali Ekehammar.

Like many students, she had studied a lot before starting the medical programme, but the pace still came as a surprise.

"It’s important to structure your studies as early as possible. I usually set weekly goals based on the learning outcomes and try to complete a specific area each week."

She was also pleasantly surprised by how many activities there are outside the classroom – from book clubs, which she is part of, to sports associations and other student groups.

What advice would you give a new student?

"I’d say it’s helpful to prepare to be an active listener and think about how you take in information. The lectures are very valuable and I learn a lot from them. But the most important thing is not to worry or stress too much. If you’ve been admitted to a highly competitive programme, you’re already well on your way", says Ebbali Ekehammar.
