Participants sought for studies Find help for trauma
Are you an immigrant living in Sweden having experienced traumatic life events? Researchers at Karolinska Institutet are testing an online psychological therapy (CBT) in English to help immigrants experiencing post-traumatic stress (PTSD). This psychological treatment has been proven to work.
Traumatic life events
Many people experience traumatic events. This might be from experiencing war and conflict, being physically or sexually assaulted, or witnessing violence or serious accidents. After these things happen, it's common to not feel like yourself. You might have bad memories, nightmares, or feel scared when you think about what happened. This can make you avoid certain things or places.
The treatment
The therapy will take 8 weeks, and it's free of charge. It happens online, so you don't need to go anywhere. You'll chat with a licensed psychologist through text regularly during these 8 weeks. The treatment and information you share is confidential.
You can apply for the study if you
- are an immigrant in Sweden (for example refugee or someone who has moved here, residence permit not necessary)
- have experienced a traumatic event and feel bothered by memories of the event, and/or feel limited in the everyday life
- are 18 years of age and above
- can read and understand basic English
- have access to a computer or smartphone with Internet
