Participants sought for studies Do you work as cabin crew or pilot in Europe?

Working as a pilot or cabin crew in Europe has changed significantly in recent years. As the aviation industry continues to adapt, researchers at Karolinska Institutet are conducting a new survey to better understand how current working conditions affect crew health, well-being, and flight safety.

Study in Brief

In 2022, following the COVID-19 pandemic, we collected survey responses from pilots and cabin crew during the ramp-up phase of flying in Europe. Now, we want to follow up to better understand how things have changed since then — and how today’s working conditions are influencing pilots’ and cabin crews’ health, well-being, and ultimately, flight safety in Europe.

The aim of this survey is to gather updated data on European pilots’ and cabin crews’ employment and working conditions, health, and experiences related to flight safety. This study is part of an ongoing research project on sustainable flight safety — exploring how organizational factors, working conditions, and health interact to support or challenge safety in aviation.

Study Design

This confidential survey includes questions about your background, your work as a pilot or cabin crew, and your health and well-being and perceived safety at your airline. Your input is valuable for understanding today’s working conditions in aviation and identifying how the work environment and flight safety can be improved.

The questionnaire includes approximately 70 questions and takes around 10–30 minutes to complete. Participation is entirely voluntary, and you are free to withdraw from the study at any time.
