External review of the quality of KI's doctoral education

Within the national quality assurance system, universities are responsible for initiating and organising external reviews of their educational programmes. KI has decided that all education must undergo an external review every eight years, and this year it is the doctoral education’s turn. KI has only one doctoral education, in medical science, so all departments are affected.

A review panel consisting of four experienced researchers and doctoral education experts from other universities, both Swedish and foreign, has been appointed together with a doctoral student representative. The review panel will visit KI during the autumn, 20-22 October, to interview representatives of the following groups:

  1. Doctoral students: the Doctoral Student Association at KI will select who will be included in the interview group.
  2. Supervisors: Supervisors have been randomly selected and have received, or will receive, an invitation to the interview.
  3. Directors of doctoral studies of the departments
  4. Course responsible: Representatives of doctoral programmes, research schools and course providers
  5. Management: Vice-president, Central director of studies and representatives from the Committee for Doctoral Education (KFU).

In addition to interviews, the review panel will also receive written documentation in the form of a KI-wide self-evaluation. Both KI's self-evaluation and the reviewers' report will be published in KI website.

The purpose of the review is to get external eyes on what we do and, in dialogue with the reviewers, gain insights and recommendations for continued quality work.
