New version of iThenticate February 14 – new functions
On 14–15 February, KI’s system for plagiarism checking of theses, iThenticate, will (as previously announced) receive a new interface with partly new features.
What’s new?
As a user, you will encounter an interface with a new look. The similarity report will work in a similar way, with color highlights showing overlaps with previously published text. However, navigation in the report and the presentation of matching sources will be somewhat different. Here you can read more about how to navigate the new similarity report.
A new feature is that the report will flag hidden text and special characters. Here you can read more about how flagging works in the new similarity report.
Another new feature is that you will be able to send the report as an email directly from iThenticate. This is helpful, for example, for doctoral students who want to share the report with their supervisor during the half-time review.
KI has currently chosen not to use the AI detection add‑on.
What happens next?
Inactive accounts will be removed during the transition to the new interface. An account is considered inactive if you have not logged in for two years. If you have logged into the system within the last two years, you don’t need to do anything. Your similarity reports will be transferred automatically to the new interface.
- 13 February: Last day you can log in to the current version of iThenticate.
- 14 February: iThenticate is completely shut down.
- 15 February: You can log in to the new iThenticate.
Logging in to the new interface will work the same as today, via SSO using your KI username and password.
Questions and support
If you have questions about how to use iThenticate, contact the University Library (KIB). During the spring semester, KIB will offer workshops demonstrating the new interface and similarity report. Register to participate via the KIB calendar.
