Participants sought for studies Do you want to participate in our study on emotional learning?

How does emotional support from others impact our ability to cope with stress and threats? This is what researchers at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience are investigating in a new study on emotional learning. We invite romantic partners between 18 and 40 years of age to participate.

In the long run, this research is expected to contribute to the understanding of how humans experience support or threat from the others.

During the study you and your romantic partner will be asked to perform a series of simple learning tasks with functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) measuring your brain activity. fNIRS is a non-invasive brain imaging technique with no side effects. After the scan you will be asked to fill out a few questionnaires. On some occasions, you or your partner will receive uncomfortable but not painful tactile stimulation to the ankle. The study involves one hour-visit to the Emotion lab, Nobels väg 9, Karolinska Institutet, Solna. There will be a compensation of 150 SEK for each participant (i.e., 300 SEK for a couple).
