Climate Health Talks are back!
In this instalment we explore the concept of 'creeping crises as a lens on preparedness and action in climate and health. Our three speakers will approach the topic from the vantage point of international relations, climate policy, and crisis governance. In the discussion that follows we will examine how institutions tackle a slow-moving threat and if the concept of creeping crises is helpful in addressing the issues facing climate and health.

- Presentations by:
- Mark Rhinard from Stockholm University and The Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI), on the concept of creeping crises, which he was part of conceptualising, and its relationship to climate and health. Is it an adequate and useful framing, or does it have limits?
- Åsa Persson from KTH Climate Action Centre, on whether the climate crisis behaves like a creeping crisis on various levels and if the concept is helpful for those who try to advise and act on it, based on her experience chairing the Swedish Climate Policy Council, joining the European Advisory Board on Climate Change, and the UN's sustainable-development work.
- Maja Fjaestad from Karolinska Institutet on whether the machinery we build for acute crises help or actively mislead us when the threat is a slow, creeping one like climate and health — and what would governing a creeping crisis well actually demand. She will speak based on her experience from leading the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs in Sweden through the acute phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as her other work on crisis leadership.
