Climate Health Talks are back!
In this instalment we explore the concept of 'creeping crises' as a lens on preparedness and action in climate and health. Our speakers will approach the topic from the vantage point of international relations, climate policy, and crisis governance. In the discussion that follows we will examine how institutions tackle a slow-moving threat and if the concept of creeping crises is helpful in addressing the issues facing climate and health.

- Presentations by:
- Arjen Boin, Professor of Public Institutions and Governance at Leiden University. Having been part of the group of scholars that developed the concept of creeping crisis, Arjen will now turn it to climate and health, and ask if it is an adequate and useful framing of problems in this field.
- Victor Galaz Rodriguez from the Stockholm Resilience Centre at Stockholm University, whose work on management of disruptive, non-linear environmental change, planetary boundaries, thresholds and globally connected risks. Victor will also bring in a health aspect to the concept, through his work with the Lancet Commission on Human Health and Climate Change and on climate driven spread of diseases.
- Questions and discussion. Moderated by Petter Ljungman from the Centre for Health Crises at Karolinska Institutet, with Maja Fjaestad from Karolinska Institutet as discussant. She will speak based on her experience from leading the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs in Sweden through the acute phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as her other work on crisis leadership.

Climate Health Talks is a seminar series organised by the Centre for Health Crises and the Institute of Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet. It brings researchers together with non-academic stakeholders — authorities, agencies, and practitioners — to strengthen dialogue and build a Swedish network at the intersection of climate and health.
