Award recipients recognised at international mingle

More than 60 colleagues gathered at Karolinska Institutet’s annual internationalisation mingle, where the 2026 Prize for Internationalisation in Teaching and Learning was also presented in person to the awardees.
On 20 May, over 60 colleagues from Karolinska Institutet gathered at Orangeriet, Aula Medica, for the annual mingle for those engaged in internationalisation in education and research.
The event was opened by Erika Dabhilkar, Head of the International Office, who welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration across KI.
A highlight of the afternoon was the awarding of the Prize for Internationalisation in Teaching and Learning 2026, presented by the Academic Vice President for Education, Ewa Ehrenborg. The price was announced earlier this year at the Deans meeting in Umeå in April. This year’s recipients – Rachel Fisher, Louisa Cheung and Jurga Laurencikiene – were recognised for their work within the BalticSeaBioMed initiative, which exemplifies innovative and long-term internationalisation in education.
The mingle also provided an opportunity to connect, exchange experiences, and gain insights into ongoing initiatives, further strengthening KI’s collaborative community in internationalisation.
