Welcome Sofia Amerson

New doctoral student at the Division of Physiotherapy.
What is your role at NVS?
”I am starting as a doctoral student at NVS and will be working on a research project focused on the development and evaluation of AI-based support for physical activity after stroke and TIA. As part of the project, I will be investigating the needs and experiences of people who have had a stroke or TIA and contributing to the development of a digital support tool tailored to users’ needs”, says Sofia Amerson.
Which division will you be working at?
”I will be working at the Division of Physiotherapy”.
What are you most looking forward to in your new job?
”I am most looking forward to developing as a researcher and working in an interdisciplinary field where physiotherapy, public health and digital health come together. It will also be very exciting to become part of the research environment at KI and get to know and collaborate with new colleagues”.
Where are you coming from and what have you done previously?
”I have a background in both Sweden and Greece and most recently come from Lund University, where I completed a master’s degree in public health science. I am also a qualified physiotherapist and have worked clinically as a physiotherapist. During my master’s studies, I mainly worked on issues related to health, physical activity and older people’s living environments, with a particular focus on qualitative research”.
What do you do when you are not working?
”In my free time, I enjoy travelling and discovering new places, spending time in nature, playing tennis and socialising with family and friends”.
What is the most beautiful place you have visited?
”Chiang Mai in Thailand”.
