The StratNeuro Postdoctoral funding is designed to support exceptional postdoctoral researchers in both basic and clinical neuroscience who are currently conducting research at KI. This year, we received 28 applications from 7 different departments.

Each funded project will receive 800,000 SEK to cover the postdoctoral researcher's salary for one year.

Evaluation process

A total of 26 proposals were eligible for external review. The eligible proposals were assessed by a panel of 4 external reviewers, and the StratNeuro board has chosen to fund the top ten ranked submissions, resulting in an overall funding rate of 35.7%.

Women made up 60% of the total applicants and also accounted for 60% of the awardees.

The different departments were represented as follows:

  • Department of Neuroscience (35.7%)
  • Institute of Environmental Medicine (3.6%)
  • Department of Neurobiology, Care sciences and Society (25%)
  • Department of Clinical Neurosience (14.3%)
  • Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics (10.7%)
  • Department of Biosciences and Nutrition (7.1%)
  • Department of Laboratory Medicine, Huddinge (3.6%)

The panel of external reviewers was formed by:

  • Gunnar Gouras, Lund University
  • Matias Palva, University of Helsinki
  • Iskra Pollak Dorocic, Stockholm University
  • Paolo Medini, Umeå University
