Abdel El Manira has been elected as new member of EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization), a recognition that not only highlights his important contributions to the field of neuroscience but also provides him with a platform to influence scientific research and strengthen research communities globally.

EMBO’s major goals are to support talented researchers at all stages of their careers, stimulate the exchange of scientific information, and help build a research environment where scientists can achieve their best work.

What does being elected as an EMBO member mean to you personally and professionally?

"Naturally, it is gratifying that our lab’s scientific contributions have been recognized through this election. I see this as an opportunity to engage more deeply with the broader EMBO scientific community, which I hope will foster new avenues for collaboration and exchange", says Abdel El Manira, Professor at the Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet.

How do you hope to contribute to the EMBO community and its initiatives?

"I look forward to learning more about the EMBO community and its initiatives, and to contributing through my experience, particularly by supporting and promoting the EMBO fellowship programmes and scientific forums."
