Participants sought for studies Everyday travel and transport needs of autistic children

This study is part of the Neuro-aware Journeys research project, conducted in collaboration between KIND (Center of Neurodevelopmental Disorders at Karolinska Institutet), RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and Lund University.

The project aims to increase knowledge about autistic children's everyday mobility and transport needs. Researchers want to better understand how autistic children experience their daily journeys, the challenges they encounter, and the factors that may support their ability to travel to and from school and participate in everyday activities.

Who can participate?

You can participate if:

• you are the parent or guardian of a school-age child diagnosed with autism
• the child lives in Sweden

Why is the study important?

Everyday travel affects children's opportunities for independence, participation, and social inclusion. Despite this, knowledge about autistic children's experiences of everyday mobility and transport needs remains limited.

By collecting experiences from parents and guardians, the researchers want to gain a better understanding of autistic children’s needs and circumstances. The results may contribute to future research and to the development of more accessible, safe and inclusive transport environments for children and families.

Taking part in the survey

To participate in this study, you will complete a web-based questionnaire about your child’s journeys to and from school, everyday travel, and transport needs. The questionnaire includes 61 questions and takes approximately 25 minutes to complete.
