Physicians may make advance decisions not to attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or other life-sustaining treatments in case of a serious deterioration in a patient's medical condition. Guidelines state that, if possible, such decisions should be made in consultation with the patient and/or their relatives. We aim to explore what patient representatives, members of the general public, and healthcare professionals consider important in relation to these decisions and discussions.
This study is being conducted by researchers at Karolinska Institutet and forms part of a European research project.
We are looking for individuals who would like to participate in a focus group interview in Swedish together with 4 to 7 other participants and subsequently answer a few questions individually. The interview will be conducted online in October and will take approximately 1 to 2 hours, including a short break.
