Participants sought for studies Are you a woman, 18-29 years old, LGBTQ+ person and have you experienced sexual violence?

Many young people in Sweden have experienced sexual violence. A total of four out of ten young bisexual women and about one in five young lesbian women have at some point been subjected to penetration against their will.

Sexual violence can take many different forms, such as sexual harassment, sexual abuse, assault or rape. It can occur both in physical environments and online.

It can affect health and well-being in different ways, but knowledge about how young LGBTQ+ people experience their experiences is still limited. Therefore, more research is needed that is based on young people's own perspectives.

Do you want to help contribute to increased knowledge? We are looking for you who want to share your experiences in an interview study about sexual violence among young LGBTQ+ women.

The purpose of the study

To investigate young LGBTQ+ women's experiences of sexual violence and how they perceive their sexual and reproductive health in relation to these experiences. The purpose is also to investigate which supportive and violence prevention efforts young people themselves perceive as important.

The research team

The research team includes researchers from Karolinska Institutet, the National Center for Women's Peace and the Swedish Public Health Agency. Our goal is to conduct research together with the people who are affected, not just about them. Therefore, the group has been expanded with two co-researchers from the target group, who themselves have experience of sexual violence.

How does the study work?

Participating in the study means that you are part of an interview that takes approximately 30-60 minutes. The interview can be conducted as a meeting either on site in a room or via a digital platform.

Who can participate?

To participate you need to:
- identify as a woman (cis or trans)
- be between 18-29 years old
- be homosexual, bisexual, transgender, queer, or pansexual
- have experience of sexual violence
- live in Sweden and speak Swedish or English
