Nicholson Lecture with Jean-Laurent Casanova

Professor Jean-Laurent Casanova to deliver this year’s Nicholson Lecture at Karolinska Institutet

Karolinska Institutet is pleased to welcome Professor Jean-Laurent Casanova from The Rockefeller University as the keynote speaker for this year’s Nicholson Lecture. The lecture, titled "Human autoantibodies neutralizing type I interferons", will take place on 10 November 2025 at 16:00 at Nobel Forum, Campus Solna.

Professor Casanova is the Levy Family Professor and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator at The Rockefeller University in New York. He also serves as a senior physician and leads the St. Giles Laboratory of Human Genetics of Infectious Diseases. His pioneering research has transformed our understanding of how genetic variations can predispose otherwise healthy individuals to severe infectious diseases, including life-threatening viral infections.

A globally recognized leader in the field of human immunogenetics, Professor Casanova has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix de l’Inserm and the Robert Koch Award, and is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. He is also a co-founder of the COVID Human Genetic Effort, a global initiative to uncover the genetic and immunological underpinnings of severe COVID-19.

The lecture will be followed by a reception. Registration is required to attend the event.
