KI researchers in EU-funded COVID-19 projects

All in all, the EU is contributing in this call EUR 128 million (just over SEK 1.3 billion) to 23 projects involving 347 research groups spread across 40 countries, complementing the spring’s “fast-start” financing of a number of research projects on COVID-19 and strategies for dealing with the pandemic. The current projects are yet to finalise their contracts with the EU Commission but are expected to commence at some time this autumn.

These are the three projects that KI is involved in:

PERISCOPE

Project: Pan-European Response to the ImpactS of COVID-19 and future Pandemics and Epidemics; 32 partners from Italy, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, France, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Sweden and the UK.

Grant: Approx. EUR 10 million (of which 7% to KI).

Leading the research at KI: Walter Osika (Department of Clinical Neuroscience), Maria Niemi and Christina Dalman (Department of Global Public Health).

COVID-X

Project: COVID eXponential Programme; 10 partners from Spain, Cyprus, Italy, Ireland, Luxemburg, Lithuania and Sweden.

Grant: Approx. EUR 7.2 million (6 % to KI).

RESPOND

Project: Improving the Preparedness of Health Systems to Reduce Mental Health and Psychosocial Concerns resulting from the COVID-19 Pandemic; 14 partners from the Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Sweden and the UK. 

Grant: Approx. EUR 6.2 million (4% to KI).
