KI CAMS symposium

The Karolinska Institutet (KI) and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) hosted their annual joint symposium in Stockholm on October 21–22, 2025, bringing together leading experts to strengthen high-level research collaboration.

The event opened with remarks from KI Vice President Prof. Martin Bergö and CAMS President Prof. Xunming Ji, followed by keynote lectures on antioxidant effects in tumor progression and population medicine.

Day one featured sessions on Population Medicine, addressing vaccine development, cancer differentiation, and multimorbidity, and Cardio-Cerebrovascular Research, showcasing registry-based studies, quality control in cardiovascular care, and insights into cerebral small vessel disease.

Day two focused on Respiratory Medicine, covering chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) care policies, multi-omics approaches to lung disease, asthma treatment innovations, and environmental health impacts. The scientific session was followed by a half-day individual lab visits of counter-speakers for in-depth discussions on the potentials of new research collaborations. 

The symposium concluded with a mutual commitment to reinforce future collaboration, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts in tackling global health challenges.
