From evaluation to development – KIRA seminar on 17 June
How can the results from KIRA 2025–2026 contribute to the continued development of research at Karolinska Institutet? This is one of the key questions when departments and university leadership come together for the annual KIRA seminar on 17 June.
From evaluation to development
During the spring, the international expert panel within the framework of KI Research Assessment (KIRA 2025–2026) has reviewed 13 departments at Campus Solna and Campus South. The panel’s report confirms KI’s strong scientific position, while also identifying areas where further development and coordination could strengthen the organisation.
The KIRA seminar on 17 June represents an important next step in taking forward the panel’s recommendations and translating them into continued development.
“We see the seminar as an important opportunity to share experiences, discuss both the process and the recommendations, and build a shared understanding of how the results can best contribute to KI’s continued development,” says Martin Bergö, Vice President.
On the agenda
During the seminar, participants will discuss, among other things:
- key takeaways from the KIRA process
- working with action plans
- the expert panel’s overall recommendations
Part of a long-term development effort
In parallel with the seminar, a comprehensive review of the expert panel’s recommendations at the KI-wide level is underway. Departments are also continuing their work on follow-up actions based on the feedback they have received.
The discussions at the seminar will form an important basis for the continued work of prioritising and implementing development initiatives within KI’s regular governance and planning processes.
Looking ahead
Experiences from KIRA 2025–2026 will also be taken forward in preparation for the next evaluation phase, when Campus North begins a corresponding process in 2026–2027.
