Five questions for the new student union presidents
Ahead of the spring term, two new presidents have taken over at KI’s student unions: Medicinska Föreningen (MF) and Odontologiska Föreningen (OF). Meet Linnea Ammer Jansson and Alexander Suei and learn about their priorities, motivations, and what they hope to achieve this year.

Tell us a bit about yourselves!
Alexander Suei: “I’m in my sixth term of the dentistry programme. When I’m not in the clinic or in lectures, I really enjoy the social side of student life. I’m someone who’s driven by seeing others thrive and develop, which is also why I’ve chosen to be so involved in our union.”
Linnea Ammer Jansson: “I’ve completed eight terms of the medical programme, but I’m currently on a study break because of my role as president. Before becoming president, I was active in the programme committee for two years.”
What made you want to take the step and become president?
Alexander Suei: “In 2025, I served as vice president of OF, which gave me invaluable insight into how we can best support our students. I wanted to take the next step to ensure we continue working long‑term with issues like student influence and community. It’s also incredibly rewarding to work with a board that wants every student to feel that the union is an open, transparent, and driving force that makes their time at the institution both more enjoyable and safer.”

Linnea Ammer Jansson: “For me, it was about wanting to give something back to the union, which has given me so much. Most of the friends I’ve made in Stockholm, I’ve met through the union, and many of my best memories come from here too. Ahead of 2026, I knew MF was facing some challenges, and I felt motivated to help the union through them so it can continue to exist for those who come after us.”
Which issues do you want to prioritise during your time as president?
Linnea Ammer Jansson: “For MF, this year will largely be about staying afloat, as we’re facing a difficult financial situation. So the economy will be a major focus. Beyond that, we want to make the union house more open and accessible for all our members. And next year we turn 150 – as Stockholm’s oldest student association, that’s definitely something worth celebrating, and preparations are already underway.”
Alexander Suei: “In 2026, our main focus is strengthening student representation. We’re developing our newly launched dental student forum and working to increase engagement across the whole association, with particular efforts to reach dental hygiene students. We’re also modernising our statutes and making the union’s documents – such as minutes and policy papers – more accessible to all members.”
What activities and events do you have coming up?
Alexander Suei: “We have an exciting year ahead! Next up is a joint trip to Kiruna for both local students and international exchange students – a collaboration between our sports committee and international committee. We recently held our Career Day (AMD), which is an important meeting point between students and employers. We’ll also continue with our popular union coffees, lunch lectures, and social events that help build community across year groups.”
Linnea Ammer Jansson: “We have weekly activities, such as Friday pubs hosted by the programme committee. We also offer regular dance classes organised by the International Committee. At the end of May, we’ll host the first in a series of alumni events – a warm‑up for our big anniversary next year.”
How can KI students stay updated on what’s happening in the unions?
Alexander Suei: “The best way is to follow us on Instagram at @ofsthlm, where our communications committee keeps things active. You can also visit our website, www.ofsthlm.se, to check the calendar. And of course, you’re always welcome to drop by the union office to browse our magazine Cavum or talk to us in the board.”
Linnea Ammer Jansson: “This is such an important question! We gather all our information on Hitract and on Instagram at @mfsthlm. And you can always stop by the Union House, which is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday between 11.00 and 17.30.”
