Explore the autumn term Bites of Learning webinars

The Unit for Teaching and Learning (UoL) invites educators and those involved in teaching to Bites of Learning, a webinar series that aims to promote dialogue, exchange of ideas and inspiration for teaching methods and educational development. Each session is around half an hour long and designed and consists of a short, engaging presentation introducing key concepts and ideas followed by a discussion. Explore this autumn’s themes and take part in the conversation.

Upcoming webinars

17 September: From research to teaching: Exploring arts-based methods for knowledge and transdisciplinary learning

Discover how arts-based and participatory methods can enrich both research and teaching when addressing complex challenges such as climate mobility, housing precarity, health equity, and disaster governance. Drawing on research in London and Accra, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, Camilla Audia explores how methods used to generate knowledge in the field can also create engaging, transdisciplinary learning experiences.

1 October: Staying grounded while the world shifts: Rethinking the role of the educator

This session explores how educators can navigate ongoing change while developing grounded and intentional approaches to their role and practice. Louisa Cheung, with a focus on reflective and dialogic learning, together with Amani Eltayb, an educational developer at KI working on curriculum development, active learning, and inclusive education, will lead this Bites of Learning session.

5 November: Co‑creating responsible GenAI practices

Generative AI (GenAI) tools such as ChatGPT are rapidly transforming the learning landscape in higher education. While many students experiment liberally with these tools, many educators are still developing confidence to guide ethical and responsible GenAI use. In this session we discuss a project to understand how co-creation, an approach where students collaborate with educators to design learning experiences, can support responsible, critical engagement with GenAI.

26 November: Gender perspectives in education

This webinar with Mariano Salazar  invites educators to explore how sex and gender perspectives can be meaningfully integrated into teaching across health and life science education. The session will introduce tools to strengthen educators’ and students’ capacity to embed gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches in course design and teaching materials. Participants will gain insights into evidence-based pedagogical practices to integrate sex and gender perspectives into teaching and learning.
