This webinar invites educators to explore how sex and gender perspectives can be meaningfully integrated into teaching across health and life science education. The session will introduce tools to strengthen educators’ and students’ capacity to embed gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches in course design and teaching materials. Participants will gain insights into evidence-based pedagogical practices to integrate sex and gender perspectives into teaching and learning.

This session aims to:
- Increase awareness of the importance of integrating sex and gender perspectives in education
- Introduce tools that enhance educators’ capacity for inclusive and equitable teaching
- Demonstrate practical approaches for embedding gender-sensitive content in curricula and teaching materials
- Encourage reflective practice and institutional alignment with international standards and guidelines (such as FAWE’s gender responsive pedagogy by UNESCO, UNICEF’s gender transformative education)

Speaker
Mariano Salazar is a docent and mixed-methods social epidemiologist at KI, specialising in gender, health, and social inequalities. His research focuses on how gender norms, power relations, and structural inequalities shape health outcomes, with particular attention to issues such as gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, and youth perspectives. With over 15 years of experience conducting research across diverse global contexts, he brings a strong interdisciplinary perspective that bridges gender theory, public health, and education.
Moderator
Jennifer Valcke is an educational developer at the Unit for Teaching and Learning and researcher at the Department of LIME. Her work focuses on advancing inclusive and equitable pedagogical practices in health professions education, with expertise in internationalisation of the curriculum, cultural learning, and education for sustainable development. Through her leadership of teacher training initiatives such as Teaching in the Glocal University and Two2Tango, she supports educators in integrating global, cultural, and equity perspectives - including gender - into their teaching and curriculum design.
