"Even experienced researchers can greatly benefit from engaging Clinicum"
Anna Sandström is Associate Professor and researcher in the research group Reproductive, Perinatal and Pediatric Epidemiology at the Department of Medicine, Solna, Karolinska Institutet and work as an Obstetrician at Karolinska University Hospital, Solna. The overarching goal of the group’s research is to increase knowledge and promote evidence-based care for women and their children during pregnancy, childbirth, and the neonatal period.

Hi Anna! What did you seek support for from Clinicum’s advisors?
"I have sought help through Clinicum a couple of times for different projects. The first time was for statistical support in a project where my doctoral student and I were unable to perform the more advanced sub-analyses. We received excellent help! In another project, we received support with ideas regarding the study design of a rather complex study, as well as assistance in setting up an eCRF in KI-REDCap".
How did you experience the application process and the support you received from your Clinicum advisor?
"The application process is very easy to follow. The support has been of a very high standard and truly provided by people with the specific expertise we were looking for".
Did the advice from Clinicum lead you to do something differently in your project compared to what you had originally planned?
"Yes, both in terms of support for already planned approaches, but also new ideas for improving study design, as well as statistical expertise beyond what we normally handle".
Do you have any tips for other researchers who are considering seeking support from Clinicum?
"I especially want to encourage clinical researchers with innovative ideas to collaborate with Clinicum to ensure well-thought-out and robust study designs. Even experienced researchers can greatly benefit from engaging Clinicum—discussions with experts with high and specialized competence are extremely valuable. Every study can be refined, and it is crucial to optimize the design already in the early planning phase".
