Arvid Guterstam named Future Research Leader

For the eighth time, the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) has selected Future Research Leaders as part of its prestigious FFL-8 program. Among the 16 chosen researchers is Arvid Guterstam, who will now have the opportunity to further develop his research with a grant of SEK 15 million over a five-year period.
The program aims to support newly established researchers with strong scientific and pedagogical competence, providing them with the tools to grow into leadership roles within research. A central goal is to ensure that research findings are implemented not only within academia but also in society and industry.
In addition to financial support, the program includes an extensive leadership training, spanning 18 months and comprising 20 full-day sessions and a one-week study trip to Switzerland. The purpose is to prepare participants to lead larger research constellations in the future.

“Being named a Future Research Leader has been crucial for building up my research group and investing in advanced infrastructure at an early stage. The grant has enabled me to pursue long-term research projects with higher risk but greater scientific potential. The leadership program has been highly developmental for me as a leader and has provided an invaluable network of other young research group leaders,” says Arvid Guterstam, assistant professor at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, KI.
The FFL program has previously proven to be an important springboard for researchers who later take on leading roles in academia, industry, and societal development.
