Join our study at Karolinska Institutet and help us investigate how the connection between the brain and muscles changes after 2 weeks of simulated microgravity.

The total time of the study, including familiarisation visits is 2 weeks. The study will take place from April 13-29, 2026.
How does the study work?
- During the study you will wear a special shoe and use crutches for 2 weeks, unloading one leg to simulate microgravity. Scroll for instruction video.
- Before and after the unloading period, you will undergo muscle tests and examinations at our laboratory.
- After the 2-week unloading period, you will have muscle samples taken from your legs.
Who can participate?
In order to participate you must:
- Be completely healthy
- Be between 18–60 years old
- Not be taking any regular medication or have any medical implants
- Be willing to unload one leg for 2 weeks
- Have a Swedish personnummer
- Be able to visit our laboratory at Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge
Reimbursement
Upon completion of the study you will be compensated with 3500 SEK (before taxes).
