Participants sought for studies Contribute to brain research to help understand mental health

We are seeking healthy individuals aged 35–60 to participate in the study as healthy controls. In our research, we examine whether brain activity can predict successful treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for common psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, and sleep difficulties. We are now looking for individuals who have good mental health and do not suffer from psychiatric problems.

About the study

We use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to study brain activity. MRI involves no exposure to radiation and has no harmful side effects. The purpose of conducting an MRI examination is to gain a better understanding of how the brain processes information. The hope is that this will provide knowledge that can help to offer more effective treatment for various psychiatric disorders.

We are currently seeking healthy individuals to participate as healthy controls, aged 35-60.

What do I have to do?

Participation involves undergoing an MRI examination, which takes place at Stockholm University Brain Imaging Centre (SUBIC), Svante Arrhenius väg 16A, and takes 2 hours to complete. During the scan, you will be looking at images and perform various attention-demanding tasks. You will also complete a shorter version of the tasks on a computer before the scan.

In addition, in connection to the scanning, you will be asked to answer questions about sleepiness and well-being. In order to participate, you must fill out a few forms when registering, after which we will contact you. Your registration is not binding, but please note that once an examination has been scheduled, strict cancellation rules apply as the examination is costly to carry out.

Reimbursement

In return for your important contribution to research, you will receive  a high-resolution anatomical image of your own brain in 3D-format.
