Professor Catarina Almqvist Malmros awarded research prize from the Swedish Association for Allergology
Catarina Almqvist Malmros, pediatrician at Astrid Lindgren's Childrens Hospital and professor at Karolinska Institutet, receives a research prize from the Swedish Society of Medicine's section Swedish Association for Allergology.
The medical journal Läkartidningen reports that the Swedish Association for Allergology, a section of the Swedish Society of Medicine recently presented their annual research prize together with the "Svensk allergiforsknings stiftelse", The Swedish foundation for allergy research. The aim of the prize is to stimulate research projects within asthma and allergy in Sweden and this year one of two awardees is Professor Catarina Almqvist Malmros at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Karolinska Institutet. Her project is entitled "Treating anxiety-related asthma using Internet-based cognitive behaviour therapy".
–I'm delighted that our research is recognized with this prize and I really look forward to starting a randomised controlled study to evaluate internet-based cognitive behaviour therapy for the anxiety-related asthma, says Catarina after the award ceremony.
The studies are conducted in collaboration with Marianne Bonnert at the Centre for Psychotherapy Education and Research, Erik Andersson and Eva Serlachius at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience and colleagues at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostastistics.
