Over a hundred KI researchers are awarded funding in the Swedish Research Council's latest call

In the Swedish Research Council's latest calls, SEK 625,904,933 was awarded to 143 KI researchers. In total, the Swedish Research Council grants just over SEK 1.2 billion for the years 2022–2027.

Medicine and health

In the Swedish Research Council's latest announcement in medicine and health, SEK 541,913,333 was awarded to 119 KI researchers. The funding includes the following grants to KI researchers:

  • 90 project grants
  • 21 establishment grants
  • 6 consolidator grants
  • 2 grants for employment as a part-time researcher in a clinical environment

A selection of large grants

Marcus Buggert at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge, is awarded SEK 9 000 000 in project grant for the project with the Swedish title: "Inverkan av lokalisering och genetik på human virus-specifik CD8+ T-cell differentiering och funktion". The same project has been awarded SEK 10 000 000 in consolidator grant.

Sara Hägg at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics is awarded SEK 9 000 000 in project grant for the project with the Swedish title: "En ansats till precisionsmedicin för Alzheimers sjukdom och andra demenssjukdomar (TREAT-ADRD)". The same project has been awarded SEK 10 000 000 in consolidator grant.

Pekka Katajisto at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology is awarded SEK 9 000 000 in project grant for the project with the Swedish title: "Nischgeometri som reglerare av stamcellers aktivitet och åldrande".

Anna Norrby-Teglund at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge, is awarded SEK 9 000 000 in project grant for the project with the Swedish title: "Precisionsmedicin vid sepsis".

Björn Reinius at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics is awarded SEK 10 000 000 in consolidator grant for the project with the Swedish title: "Mekanismer for elastisk doskompensation ".

Mikael Ryden at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge, is awarded SEK 9 000 000 in project grant for the project with the Swedish title: "Lipidomsättning vid kardiometabol sjukdom-studier av multihormonresistens".

Natural sciences and technical sciences

13 researchers at KI have received the Swedish Research Council's grants in natural sciences and technical sciences in 2022. The total sum for grants given for KI researchers is SEK 44,747,000.

A selection of large grants

Yanbo Pan at the Department of Oncology-Pathology is awarded SEK 4 000 000 SEK in establishment grant for the project with the Swedish title: ”Dechiffrera de subcellulära lokaliseringsberoende RAS-proteininteraktionerna”.

Hanna Barriga at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics is awarded SEK 4 000 000 in establishment grant for the project with the title: ”Understanding lipid nanoparticle structure and endosomal escape via phospholipase interactions to advance nanomedicine design and function”.

Hongji Yan at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics is awarded SEK 4 000 000 in establishment grant for the project with the Swedish title: ” Förbättring av ötransplantation genom att utveckla biomimetiska och immunorkestrerande geler för mikroinkapsling av öar med mikrofluidik”.

David Marlevi at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery is awarded SEK 4 000 000 SEK in establishment grant for the project with the Swedish title: "Flerskalig bildbaserad estimering av kardiovaskulära tryckgradienter – ett paradigmskifte inom hemodynamisk riskbedömning".

Humanities and social sciences

Four researchers at KI have received the Swedish Research Council's grants in the humanities and social sciences in 2022. The total sum for grants given for KI researchers is SEK 18,914,000.

KI project that is awarded the largest grant

Mikael Lundqvist at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience is awarded SEK 5 890 000 in project grant for the project with the Swedish title: ”När minnen kolliderar: förflyttning av minnesrepresentationer i arbetsminnet”.

Development research

Seven researchers at KI have received the Swedish Research Council's grant for development research in 2022. The total sum for grants given for KI researchers is SEK 20,330,600.

Susanna Brighenti at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge, is awarded SEK 4 498 000 in project grant for the project with the Swedish title: ”Immunprofilering och immun checkpoint modulering av multidrogresistent tuberkulos infektion (IPIM)”.

Akira Kaneko at the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology is awarded SEK 499 000 in project grant for the project with the Swedish title: ” Asymtomatiska och submikroskopiska malaria: en studie av sambandet mellan parasiter, myggor och människors i smittspridning med målet att eliminera malaria i tropiska Afrika”.
