The research bill for 2025-2028 announces, among other things, calls that require coordination of applicant universities. KI’s President Annika Östman Wernerson has decided to set up a steering group with the task of simplifying and overseeing these processes and other upcoming initiatives in the government's research policy.

Bill 2024/25:60, Research and innovation for the future, curiosity and benefit, contains investments in free research of the highest quality. During the period 2025-2028, appropriations for research and development are proposed to increase gradually by a total of SEK 6.5 billion.

These appropriations include both competitive funding to higher education institutions and funding to government research funding bodies. Some calls will be open to applications from individual researchers, while others will require coordination of applicant universities.

The task of KI's steering group is to coordinate KI’s applications. The aim is for KI to be able to capitalize on the upcoming initiatives in a proactive and efficient manner.
