Call for Mats Sundin Fellowship in Human Developmental Health KI 2025
We are pleased to announce the launch of the 2nd Mats Sundin Postdoctoral Fellowship in Human Developmental Health.
Building on a longstanding collaboration with the University of Toronto (U of T, Toronto, Canada) the Fellowship is targeting KI PI’s interested in developing a research proposal together with a recent doctoral student graduate or junior postdoctoral fellow from U of T. Similarly, KI doctoral student graduate or junior postdoctoral fellow can develop a project with U of T PI. The most successful proposals, one from each site, will be awarded to cover the salary of a postdoc up to two years. The postdoctoral fellows will be recognized as Mats Sundin Fellows in Human Developmental Health. At KI, the grant for two years is 1.8 mSEK.
An application in two parts
The application is in two parts: an expression of interest application from PIs and a full application, which will be a joint proposal from the PI hosts and the potential fellow applicants. More information about the full application can be found in the MSF full application announcement.
Part one: expression of interest application from KI Principal Investigators
Group leaders/Principal Investigators (PIs) at KI are invited to submit an application of interest to host a postdoctoral fellow. After pre-screening and approval from the evaluation committee, a list of the KI PIs will be sent to the U of T, and the potential fellow candidates can directly contact the potential hosts to develop the project proposal. The PI must have a published track record in the area of human development or developmental origins of disease and funding in place to support the operational costs of the proposed project. The deadline for KI PIs to submit the expression of interest application to participate in this program is June 11, 2025.
The expression of interest application should include:
- A short CV of the PI (2 pages)
- The ten most important publications for the research topic from the last ten years.
- A brief summary of the topic area/techniques of interest (250-word max).
- Application assurance document signed by the Head of the Department
The application should be emailed to Lotta Lundqvist as single PDF file by 11 June, 2025.
The expression of interest application form PIs will be reviewed to ensure that they are within the scope of the Mats Sundin fellowship (human development or developmental origins of disease) and that the PIs have provided application assurance signed by the head of the department. After the review, the PIs will be notified by email if their interest application has been approved. The list of KI host PIs will be sent to the U of T and distributed to potential fellowship candidates, who will contact the KI PIs directly.
Part two: KI doctoral graduates or junior postdoctoral fellows interested in applying for MSF at U of T
A similar announcement to interested PIs is made at U of T. After pre-screening, a list of U of T PIs will be posted, allowing potential KI doctoral graduates or junior postdoctoral fellows interested in applying for the fellowship to contact them and develop a project proposal with them.
The full application, which the PI and the fellow candidate develop together, should be submitted by 19 August, 2025. Please see folder about the Mats Sundin Fellowship for more information.
